Why Do I need travel insurance? The Airline Guide recommends that everyone should buy travel insurance. A years worth of saving for a holiday can be ruined in a second, therefore we always recommend insurance to cover against
Do you travel abroad more than once a year? If you do you may be better buying a yearly insurance policy. Do you get what you pay for? Normally Yes. Be careful to what it actually covers you for. Make sure you dont have a low amount for medical insurance( biggest claim is about £1 million!!) as it can quickly add up. Often the cheaper the cover the lower the payout amounts and will often have less cover. Some Countrys do help with Medical costs if you take ill abroad. You need to apply for a European Health Insurance Card (EHIC). This entitles you to reduced-cost, sometimes free, medical treatment that becomes necessary while youre in a European Economic Area (EEA) country or Switzerland. The EHIC card does not replace travel insurance . To see further information and apply online click here I have an E111 form. Do I need a EHIC? Yes. The E111 form is being withdrawn and replaced with the EHIC Some Countrys do not give you Any Free Healthcare if you take ill abroad. The following countrys including popular holiday destinations like Turkey, Canada, and the USA will charge huge amounts as they have no Healthcare agreements with the United Kingdom. Therefore its rerommended to take High levels of comprehensive medical insurance before travelling to any of these countries. The Full list can be seen here
